XHTML-based slide show tools
The days were you had to have PowerPoint to visualize slides show are fortunately going away; the current offer for XHTML-based slide shows is pretty good, and growing:
- the ancestor of all these, the now outdated W3C Slidemaker; Dean Jackson updated the markup and the styles in his SooperSlide
- … before developing the yet unreleased PHP-based outlet
- Opera has had for quite some time a mode to develop and present slides with its Opera Show
- Dave Raggett’s Slide Show and Eric Meyer’s S5 generate content with the expected behavior for a diaporama (e.g. being able to press the space key to go the following slide), and with plenty of space to make CSS customization
- for those interested in SVG, Ivan Herman’s combined slidemaker allows to build XHTML and SVG slides at the same time
