Don’t call me DOM

While it’s fun to be able to play with GRDDL on the Web, what I would really love to see is desktop applications using GRDDL to integrate with the Web; some random ideas:  Read more... (173 words, estimated 42 secs reading time)

• get Evolution to be able to subscribe to an HTML page to import contacts from it; this would suppose: getting Evolution to understand an RDF contacts vocabulary (e.g. SWAD contact or FOAF), and then to get it to understand GRDDL – either with the full URI dereferencing/XSLT processing, or simply with a few well-known HTML profiles to encode it- maybe Chandler would be a better application to target?

I’ve been asked privately whether the code of spellchecker service run on the W3C site was available; it wasn’t, but now it is, along with tidy on-line and HTTP HEAD services code.

The spellchecker uses a fairly simple Python wrapper around aspell, that:  Read more... (298 words, estimated 1:12 mins reading time)

• allows to pick the language of the document being spell checked – ideally, this would be autodetected in the HTTP headers (Content-Language) and in the HTML document itself (with the lang/xml:lang attributes)
• presents the errors found, and optionally the possible corrections
• links to a different form (whose code hasn’t been released yet) to add words in the local dictionary

I took a few minutes to make my wordpress installation a bit more personal-looking; no big changes, but at least it’s not the default theme anymore.
